The annual Nebraska Young Artist Awards recognizes Nebraska high school juniors who are talented in art, music, dance, theatre, or film & emerging media. Students were selected based on the quality of their art by UNL faculty and will be honored in an awardsĀ ceremony on the University of Nebraska Lincoln campus on April 3rd.Ā Three SV juniors received the NYA award this year in Visual Art: congratulations Brooklyn Santifer, Ehme Linner, and Emily Layton! One of the artworks they submitted in their portfolio will be on display at the Medici Gallery on UNL campus.Ā



Mrs. Roskop's first graders earned a class prize so they took advantage of the gorgeous weather and had a picnic!



The themes are set for the state games so you can pack accordingly!

To avoid connectivity issues, please consider having your tickets pulled up on your phone BEFORE entering the facility. Tickets cannot be pulled up more than 1 hour before the session begins.

Heart Health Week was full of challenges and fun! 1. Students learned how to find their pulse and to calculate their heart rate. 2. Nurse Ashley certified our 5th & 6th graders in hands-only CPR. 3. We had many students make it into our jump rope club this year. With Boston Billeter leading the pack jumping rope for a time of 6:40.











Scholastic Art is a state-wide competition, with all sizes of schools competing in one group; this year 74 senior portfolios and 2,600 artworks were entered, with about a dozen senior portfolios and a few hundred artworks being chosen for recognition. For Southern Valley one Gold Key, two Silver Keys, and several Honorable Mention awards were given to 8 high school artists, receiving 9 awards, with 11 artworks headed to Omaha for the exhibit; congratulations to Kallie Felzien, Lily Jordan, Shalissa Bigham, Emma Jordan, Emily Layton, Brooklyn Santifer, Ellora Whitney, and Rylee Smith! These students' works will be displayed from March through April.


Girls State š apparel order forms and payment are due to the High School Office @ Southern Valley on Monday, February 26th by 12:00 pm (noon).
